How to get from Cancun Airport to Puerto Aventuras

Puerto Aventuras is an oceanfront resort community south of Playa del Carmen, built around a marina with a golf course, calm beaches and plenty of condos. Getting from Cancun Airport to Puerto Aventuras is simple because the whole route follows Federal Highway 307, but the ride is fairly long and the entrance has a security gate. Private transfer

ADO bus

What to know before arriving in Puerto Aventuras

• Gated entrance: there's a security booth at the entrance. Keep your hotel or condo name handy and, if you rent an apartment, the unit number and your host's name.
• The marina and shopping area: restaurants, shops and boat tours are clustered around the marina.
• Akumal, a few minutes away: if you're staying in Akumal or want to swim with sea turtles, it's a little farther south on the same highway.

How long it takes depending on when you land

• Early morning and at night: Highway 307 flows better and the ride is close to the reference time.
• Afternoons and high-season weekends: the stretch through Playa del Carmen often gets busy and the ride can take longer.
• Long lines at immigration: your driver waits up to 60 minutes after your flight lands.

Since the ride is about an hour, keep water handy and use the restroom before leaving the terminal.
