Cancun Airport: arrival and transfer guide

Cancun Airport is the gateway to the Hotel Zone, the Riviera Maya and Tulum. This guide covers what you need to know when you land: which terminal you arrive at, how to find your driver, what other ways there are to leave and how long it takes to reach each destination.

Check with your airline which terminal you arrive at and save it with your booking: it helps you find your driver and, on the way back, get to your flight on time.

How to find your driver

1. Immigration and luggage. Follow the signs to immigration, collect your bags at your flight's carousel and go through customs. In high season it can take longer than usual.
2. Don't stop for salespeople. Between customs and the exit you'll often be offered transportation, tours or timeshares. If your transfer is booked, you don't need to give your details to anyone.
3. Prepaid transportation area. Look for our staff holding a Transfer sign. Your driver waits up to 60 minutes after your flight lands.

Other ways to leave the airport

• Authorized taxi: booked at the terminal counters, with a zone-based fare. There's no official published fare table, so confirm the total price before you get in. Ride-hailing apps like Uber are not authorized to pick up passengers at the airport.
• ADO bus: leaves the terminals for places like the Hotel Zone, Playa del Carmen and Tulum on fixed schedules. It drops you at a terminal or stop, not your hotel.
• Tren Maya: the Cancun Airport station is across the highway, with buses from the terminals. Departures are few and its stations are outside each destination's center.

If your flight is delayed
